5 months and then... 6

Jett will be 6 months old this next week. He is so precious to me. I am so blessed to have Jett and Truett. My two little buddies. Since I haven't done this before (on the blog) let me update everyone. If you haven't met Jett you have missed out on a treat. He has such a sweet disposition, of course I think it only helps that he is on such a great schedule! Have I mentioned he is on Babywise!! Oh! I can't tell you how much I love it. He started formula exclusively this week :(

Jett- will go for his 6 month check-up this week, but let me add a few things for him at 6 months:

-He loves people
loves to smile
loves to laugh
loves his big brother and bigger kids
loves one on one attention
loves to turn from back to tummy and then from tummy to back
-He doesn't love food as much as Truett did
-He take 5 bottles a day
-He get across the room by turning in circles
-He has gotten on all fours but doesn't do it that often
-He drinks between 7-10 ounces each time
-He wears 9 month old onesies and some 6-9 month old clothes
-He started rolling from tummy to back at 4 months and back to tummy at 4.5 months
-He has been sitting up on his own for up to 5 minutes and still falls occasionally, usually only making it a minute or so
-He would rather watch his big brother when his big brother watches tv (not that I EVER let them watch tv) :)
-He sleeps 12 hours every night.

His day goes like this:
up at 8 or 8:30 - eat breakfast
nap at 10
up at 12pm - eat lunch
down at 2pm
up at 4pm - eat dinner
"cat" nap at 6-6:45
Take "night night" bottle at 8:30

Praise God for Babywise!

Long nights... long days!

Jett slept 10 hours last night... whew! I was in pain. I got up at 6 so I could pump. I fed Jett the bottle when I woke him up at 7:30. He sucked down 8 and a half ounces. He must have been so hungry! He has not gone that long at night so, I was ready for him to wake up. I hope my body adjusts really fast. I don't have much else to say, but here are a few pictures from when Truett and I made cupcakes. We waited until we were all finished to lick the batter.

Schedules: why are they so good for you?

After watching an episode of wife swap (portions of it), I thought about our schedule and wondered if we were too strict or too lenient in our daily schedule. As you probably know, the show matches up two families that are complete opposites in this case there was a family who schedule so much into their day that they spent little to no time together and were bombarded with activities during the summer that would make anyone complain. Yet, on the other hand there was a family that spent all day doing nothing. Such extremes, but definitely a point worth making.

We are a family of schedules. We were so "scheduled" that when Truett arrived it threw us into a 180 whirlwind. He was demanding and whiny, we didn't know what to expect and hated not knowing even more. So, to the precious advice of many a dear friends we bought a book called BABYWISE. Yea, yea, I know I've "mentioned" it many a times, but, let me let you in on a little secret. The very first night I began reading the book (I hadn't completed but a few chapters), I went to bed with an assurance that things would get better and I had a game plan. Once we implemented this simple schedule, we noticed a huge improvement of disposition and noticed that we seemed much more calm.

Fast forward to now, over a year later and my day is full of schedules: breakfast time, awake time, workout time, nap time, lunch time, alone time, play times, nap time, supper time, family time, and finally bed time! This is everyday and is only changed for special occasions (family comes in to visit, church, vacations). I enjoy the flexibility and security of a schedule, and think he does even better than I do.

There is definitely a risk of going overboard but I believe having a schedule sets you up for a balance, full, successful life.

Stay tuned, Easter pictures to follow......

January and full of Energy!

Spring COME QUICKLY!

Oh look what I found... an old pic of Truett last year at this time!

I love it when he gets on his knees... he has to always be ready!

I know... mommy is funny....looking! He loves his ball fort!

"Really, Daddy?" Concerned look!

I'm going to get the camera! "Doctor In Training" scrubs he got for his birthday!

Dr. Truett Hahaha!!

Reading his "medical" books!

Alone time is over.... thank you Babywise!

So I don't have much to say.... life is busy busy keeping up with a walking 1 year old. He loves to go outside and we try to go at least once a day, weather permitted. Soon Wayne and I will have a night to ourselves. We are going to see You're a good man, Charlie Brown at a local college and will not be back until late, so Wayne's mom has asked to keep him overnight. She is a saint!! It will probably be the weekend of the 21st! Also, Valentine's Day is approaching, we will probably go grab something to eat with Truett and get some dessert at a local bakery! Well, that is all for now. Truett is almost 32 inches and 26 lbs.! He is a lug to carry around!

24 weeks, an amazing life!

Truett is 24 weeks today and 5 1/2 months old. He has been sitting up all by himself for about 1 week. He falls occasionally, but definitely stays up more and more everyday! He loves his bath time and his daddy's attention. I have such a
blast with my little "man". He flirts with me and I eat it up. I love when he puts his hands on both sides of my face and pulls me into his face. Only to blow "kisses" at me, really he just spits. It's the most precious spit I've ever known :).

Truett's cousin Kerigan came to see us this week and we enjoyed seeing her and her mommy and daddy. We loved on them for a couple of days and hated to see them leave. The next time they'll see each other they will probably crawling...it's hard to believe!

We went to a family reunion last Saturday and saw Wayne's grandparent's relatives. They didn't even know who everyone is! We took a picture of 4 generations of Mullins men!

Truett is growing so much everyday. He is over 18 lbs. and is 28 inches tall. I think we have a giant on our hands. He's so tall! He is sleeping 10-11 hours every night and loves his sleep time. It makes for such a sweet little boy. Thank God for Babywise!! It makes parenting so much easier.

Truett wants to crawl, but hadn't figured out his knees and legs can move at the same time his arms move. He pushes up with his arms until he is up on his knees but then he gets frustrated. He can move his whole body by his arms, usually in a circle. He makes us laugh constantly, he is so smart (of course).

I have been working out and trying to get this body back in to tip top shape, it's going well. I just never thought it would take so much time and effort. I can't blame all of it on Truett. I am almost in all of my pre preg outfits but definitely don't look the same in the outfit. I am working at it and I know it takes time and lots and lots of hard work. Not like it would kill me to be this size, but I really don't want to have to buy a whole new wardrobe!!
