24 weeks, an amazing life!

Truett is 24 weeks today and 5 1/2 months old. He has been sitting up all by himself for about 1 week. He falls occasionally, but definitely stays up more and more everyday! He loves his bath time and his daddy's attention. I have such a
blast with my little "man". He flirts with me and I eat it up. I love when he puts his hands on both sides of my face and pulls me into his face. Only to blow "kisses" at me, really he just spits. It's the most precious spit I've ever known :).

Truett's cousin Kerigan came to see us this week and we enjoyed seeing her and her mommy and daddy. We loved on them for a couple of days and hated to see them leave. The next time they'll see each other they will probably crawling...it's hard to believe!

We went to a family reunion last Saturday and saw Wayne's grandparent's relatives. They didn't even know who everyone is! We took a picture of 4 generations of Mullins men!

Truett is growing so much everyday. He is over 18 lbs. and is 28 inches tall. I think we have a giant on our hands. He's so tall! He is sleeping 10-11 hours every night and loves his sleep time. It makes for such a sweet little boy. Thank God for Babywise!! It makes parenting so much easier.

Truett wants to crawl, but hadn't figured out his knees and legs can move at the same time his arms move. He pushes up with his arms until he is up on his knees but then he gets frustrated. He can move his whole body by his arms, usually in a circle. He makes us laugh constantly, he is so smart (of course).

I have been working out and trying to get this body back in to tip top shape, it's going well. I just never thought it would take so much time and effort. I can't blame all of it on Truett. I am almost in all of my pre preg outfits but definitely don't look the same in the outfit. I am working at it and I know it takes time and lots and lots of hard work. Not like it would kill me to be this size, but I really don't want to have to buy a whole new wardrobe!!

5 months old!

Today Truett is 5 months old, he's 21.5 weeks old. He is so verbal and is so much fun! I say this all the time but I can't help myself, mommy hood is the hardest thing I've ever done and the

most rewarding.
I have Christmas morning every morning and the challenges of a baby waking up in the middle of his nap or fussing for no reason at all or trying to figure out what he could possibly be fussing about is all in a day's work. Sometimes when people ask me what am I doing now and I reply "THIS!" I can't imagine anyone being able to do anything but this! I know it has it's ups and downs and sometimes I wish I were working just to get a little break, I think about this child growing up without the guidance of my unconditional love and help and know that I'm exactly in the place I'm meant to be. There is no job in the world worth it. I know this calling of "mommy hood" is a high calling and I intend to take it with the highest regard. I have so much respect for the mother's in the world and daddy's. I know Wayne works so hard to provide for us and he comes home and plays his heart out with Truett. Sometimes I know he's exhausted and yet he keeps going. He amazes me!! I melt when I see him and Truett together. I think those two are more alike than they will ever know, and I'm the lucky woman who gets to be apart of their lives.

September will mark mine and Wayne's 5 years married and 7 years together anniversary, we hope to go to a beach in Mexico and are still in the planning stages. I can't wait to get away for a while but I know I'll be ready to get back and see Truett.

Truett is turning over and sitting up momentarily on his own. He enjoys his walker and play mat, he still hates "tummy time". He "crawls" around in a circle, not moving his knees, but moving his body in a circular motion by using his arms. We went last Tuesday for a checkup and he is 17 lbs. and 26 3/4 inches!! He's a biggen! Hope to write more and soon!

4 months old!

Well tomorrow Truett will officially be 4 months old. He's getting so big and so verbal! We have had a couple of problems though. He's been breastfeeding for 4 full months. He has done great and grown so much. Which is why I don't understand why he now won't take it. He might for a couple of minutes and then that's it, no more. He will take the bottle with pumped breastmilk, so it shouldn't be a sore throat or ear ache. He might be teething although it wouldn't explain everything. He will eat a full meal when he's sleepy but only then. Ahhhh... it's frustrating. My supply is still up but in the afternoon when the supply is at it's lowest we have given him formula and he takes a good bit of that. At first he spit out the formula but now takes it pretty good. I didn't want to put him on formula until he was at least 6 months but now I worry he's not getting enough, so I supplement a little. I will say I've enjoyed breastfeeding more than I ever thought I would.

Truett is babbling all the time and loves to get going, really loud. Him and his daddy talk (jabber) and it's precious. He loves to get our attention and will squeal and look at us until we look at him. He rolls over from stomach to back, when coerced and often needs a little "help". He held his bottle last night for about 15 seconds (that's the first time he ever tried). He has been drooling a great deal and even has a little rash under his chin where it dribbles down. He also has had other teething symptoms (I won't go into details). He does not have inflamed gums, but chews on everything.

We are enjoying MO as much as you can with a 4 month old. We went to a really nice area last weekend. It was like an outdoor mall, with nice restraunts. We ate at a place called Brio's (Italian restraunt). I tried to convince Wayne to eat at PF Cheng but he wanted to eat somewhere we haven't been (I can't blame him). The food was great and we walked a good bit. Truett did great and only took one short nap while we were there, but fell asleep on the way home and slept for 1.5 hours then. Well that's about all. I hope we go home soon!

16 weeks!!

I'm back........ Hey, time flies when your having fun! Since the last time I wrote Truett has had his first Easter and first road trip. Now we are in Kansas City, MO with daddy for a CAT (astrophe). We spend most of the day eating, sleeping, and pooping. No, seriously we read books, learn spanish, work on our hand-eye coordination, holding our head up during belly time, rolling over, singing, walking, crawling, you name it and we work on it. Who does Truett think he is ... a baby!! Not at mommy's bootcamp! Hehe.... I'm so kidding. Truett thinks all we do all day long is play but I know secretly we're working.

I've been able to work out a good bit back home (Wayne relieves me for an hour) while I go to the gym. Up here I have Truett all day every day. So during one of his waketimes we go workout. Truett sings to me or the mirror and I run for 10 min and the stair climber 10 min, 6 days a week. It's not too bad. I've been able to lose a couple of pounds. I'm down to 113 lbs. which is still 8 lbs. from where I want to be in the end. I lost 3 lbs. in the last week, so it seems to be coming off faster now. I want to lose 5 lbs. while still breastfeeding and the remaining 3 when he's done, at about 6 months.

He has been on rice cereal for a couple of weeks now, and he's got the hang of it. We keep making it a little thicker each time and by next week we'll start on some veggies!! He loves "singing"
and playing with daddy in the evenings. We will take him to the indoor pool here in the next couple of weeks! He taked 2 really good naps during the day and 2 short naps. He is sleeping 8-9 hours at night. All credit goes to the book "Babywise" for helping me with his schedule.

He is about 14.5 lbs. and 25.5 inches. He has grown so much and is in the 75th-90th percentile in height and 50th for weight. He was so small at birth it's hard to believe how much he's grown, 6 inches!!! Well.... let me know if you guys have any questions. Hopefully I'll update more soon!!

The Fam!

Well, Truett is 7 weeks and 3 days. We saw our pedi on Thursday, he was exactly 7 weeks old. He was 9 lbs. 12 ozs. and 22 inches. The last visit was with Truett at 10 days old and he was 7 lbs. and 20 1/2 inches. When we left the hospital he was 6 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 3/4 inches. He is doing well and is still breastfeeding exclusively.

We went to Memphis about a week and a half ago. Truett had 2 real good nights and one really fussy one. He did pretty good in the car both ways. I can't wait to get out more and exercise more. The workout facility that we usually go to won't keep any babies until they are 6 months old. So, until then I'll be working out at home (I'm ordering Yoga booty ballet). I've heard it's a good workout and I hope to go running a couple days a week. I have about 10 lbs. to lose and will take it slow so I don't lose my milk supply. After I finish breastfeeding I hope to lose another 3 lbs., I hope to breastfeed until Truett is at least 6 months.

My sister Nicole also had her little one. She was born February 23rd, 7 lbs. 12 ozs. and 19 1/2 inches. She looks like her daddy, like a little Indian baby! I'll attach a picture. I can't wait to see her and my sister. We went through the whole pregnancy together and have a niece now! Truett will have someone to play with and hopefully grow up with. I think she's a little more "motherly" than myself. I tend to get flustered and frustrated, I'm very structured and scheduled. She is so easy going and has had many years of mothering. She practically raised me and my siblings (she was our little "Hitler").

I hope to write more later... hopefully he'll sleep through the night soon! He sleeps about 4-5 hours at a time and sleeps about 1.5- 2hrs. during the day, he take about 4-6 naps. I try to get those important things done at that time, like shower, eat, laundry, cleaning, and occasionally working out. It seems like it's never long enough. I hear it's all worth it in the end. I'm hoping it gets more worth it, soon!

Some up to date pics!!

We had a very sleepless first few weeks. Still some nights are better than others. Truett sleeps in 3-6 hour stretches. It's usually more like 4-5 hours. He has had a few bouts of colic. The Mylicon really works!! Since leaving the hospital we have taken lots of pics. I'll post some so everyone can see the darling.

Right now he is 5 weeks and 1 day. He is suppose to be taking his nap right now and is crying instead. Just about the time he should wake up he will be snoozing! We were tired of the sleepless nights and had heard about the book Baby Wise, we love it!

Labor and Truett!

At 38 weeks and 3 days at 5:30 a.m. my water broke. I had no other indication that I was in labor. Well, besides the Braxton-Hicks contractions (or at least I thought that's what they were). Turns out they were REAL ones. I thought for sure this was it, but at 11 am there was no change. The contractions were still not painful. I called my OB at 11am and she, of course, wanted to see me. She said that it was definitely my bag of waters that broke and my contractions were about every 3-6 min. apart. She put me on a monitor and everything looked good so off I went to the mall to walk. After about 4-5 hours of walking we,Wayne and I, were to meet her at the hospital to see if I had progress or if I would need to be put on the pitocin drip.

I was only 2 cm and 60% effaced so they pit drip was put on and off I went. The contractions were stronger but still manageable. After 2 1/2 hours on the drip they couldn't pick up Truett's heartbeat on the external monitor because he was right over a main artery of mine and they said I was very vascular. The nurse and OB said they had never seen this (not what you want to hear while in labor). So, they recommended an internal monitor. They tried it 4 times before being able to get his heart rate. I was in so much pain after that due to the stress the internal exam that was being done each time. He had a lot of hair so they weren't able to get a good reading. Finally they got his heart rate, but after so much stress and pain on me they turned me on all fours and gave me oxygen and put a ultrasound monitor on me to check on Truett. Truett had thrown himself into arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) due to the stress I was under.

I was taken off the pit drip and was told it would be better if I had a c-section then instead of waiting until the morning to have one. I was then at about 5 cm. I was so disappointed but after they told me they thought they were going to have to do an emergency c-section (where I am asleep completely and Wayne couldn't be in the room), I knew I was going to have a section one way or another. All of this after I had such a detailed birth plan and was going natural even on the pitocin. UHHHH... I was in tears.

So, off to surgery we went. Truett was born on January 25th at 10:50 p.m. with the cord wrapped around his neck twice. He was 6 pounds 8 ounces, 19 3/4 inches and a loud cry. His apgar score was 8 after 1 minute and 9 after 5 minutes. He was monitored all night to check out his heart and we were told in the morning he had no arrhythmia episodes. When we left the hospital he weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce. At his 10 day checkup with his pediatrician he weighed 7 lbs. and 20 1/2 inches. He checked out great and we go back in April.

OK, a little late!

So, I have not posted in quite sometime. Forgive me! I'm going to post a few prego pics, so you can see me before the baby finally gets here!

The one on the far left is me and Bethany the first week of January. So I was 36-37 weeks along and she was 29 weeks, I believe. The other pic, I'm in the pink shirt, was taken in Indiana and I was about 32 weeks.

The whole pregnancy was by the book, so I was totally unprepared for my unpredictable labor. I'll give you the labor story later.

32 weeks and going home :(

I began my 32nd week on Tuesday of this week! I can't believe I will have this little man within the next 5-10 weeks. I'm excited about going home for the shower and appointments but I'm so bummed about leaving Wayne here in Indy again! But not long at all until he's home, at least for Christmas. We hope he's home for good by the 20th of January because I'll be 38 weeks, and we don't want him to miss a moment of Truett's arrival. I can't believe when I get home I'll only have 2 weeks left to shop. I usually have all my shopping done by now, but it's kinda hard when your thousands of miles away from home and no way to get presents home if I buy them here!

My last shower is this weekend and my 32 week appointment is on Monday with my OB. I can't wait, it's been 6 weeks since I've been. So this should be interesting with my weight and belly measurement. I'll keep you posted. My goal weight is 123 lbs., last time I was 117 and I'm trying to keep a pace of about 1 lb. per week. If I hit my goal then I'll have gained 19 lbs. at 32 weeks, sounds good to me. I do feel like I've gained at least that much. I've been having a rough time at night, I guess that's God's way of getting me prepared. I now have to sleep on my sides there is no way around it. If I sleep on my back I can't breathe well, he puts pressure on my lungs. I won't even discuss sleeping on my tummy, I feel like I'm squishing him and me, although I did sleep on my belly until about 25 weeks. That is also about when I started to show 25-27 weeks. Now at 32 weeks I toss from one side to the other, and wake up each time I do. I feel like I'm pulling something if I lay on one side too long. SO that's the whiny pregnant lady's complaints.

I am so excited to see the finish line. I'm not going to have a camera for a while, I'll be at home with only a 35mm. But I'll try to get some shower pics and develop them for this blog. I hope everybody has a great weekend!

Cyber Monday and 31 weeks!

Well yesterday was suppose to be the biggest online shopping day of the year! Did you get some great deals, I know I looked but couldn't decide on anything. We also went "shopping" this past weekend and came away empty handed because we are not sure if Wayne will be able to drive home for the holidays or fly. If he drives in then he will stay at home, if he doesn't have his release date then he'll fly in and fly out for the holidays. So, we don't want to buy gifts up here only to have to ship them back home. Plus we really didn't like anything we saw.

Today I begin my 31st week, less than 10 weeks to go. Anywhere from 6-12 weeks away from a babino. Hopefully about 8 weeks is what we are hoping for. I go for my next prenatal on Dec. 11th and will be 33 weeks then, I'll also go two weeks later and then every week to see if I'm dilating or effaced. How exciting, j/k! I know then labor will be shortly thereafter. Yikes! I'm not ready. I still have all of my Christmas shopping and one last shower. I need to get my hospital bag together and all the last minute things for Truett. I'm ready to finally see the little monkey that's been moving constantly.

I read somewhere that I'm suppose to feel him move something like 10 times an hour. That would definitely be an understatement. I could probably count 10 times in 2-5 minutes at any given time. At night he slows down after I fall asleep, well, I guess he does because he doesn't wake me up. Then when I eat breakfast at 6:45 a.m. he's back at it, all day long!

I'm going to post a picture of my belly from the front, that is where I see the biggest expansion, he sits sooo low in my tummy that I'm afraid he will come out when he "drops".

Happy Thanksgiving and 30 weeks!!!

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted anything. I have been home and without a digital camera and the "film" camera's battery is dead and we didn't have an extra one at the house. So, I made it back to see my hunny in Indianapolis. We will spend Thanksgiving together but without the rest of our families. While I was at home my sister and I had a baby shower. We had a great time together and was very sad to see that time pass so fast. I flew into Indianapolis last Monday and it was so great to see my baby (Wayne). I know when this baby (Truett) gets here it will be confusing because Wayne is my baby but Truett will be the baby, see why it's confusing.

Today I began my 30th week and I'm definitely popping, or at least it feels like it is. I had a good bit of discomfort yesterday and think it's because Truett is growing and my muscles and ligaments are having to cooperate with him. This week he should be roughly 3 lbs. and 14 inches long. WOW!! We almost have a newborn. Keep on growing little man! He should put on 6-8 ounces every week, so about a half of a pound each and every week. Now I know why I am stretching my ligaments. But, hey no sign of stretch marks -yet anyways! I've kept my skin hydrated but the water and weather up here are so different, it dries my skin out so bad. Wayne says his is dried out too.

Wayne heard yesterday that they are going to be closing the CAT office here soon. So, we are thinking around Christmas they will close everything down. A girl that got here the same day as Wayne got her release date, but no word on Wayne's release date. We will be ecstatic if he comes home for Christmas. I promised my OB I would not come back up here after my next appointment on Dec. 11th. I will be 33 weeks and will feel better knowing I'm closer to my home. I also have a baby shower on Dec. 9th, the day after I get back home. This is Wayne's side of the family and friends. I hope to keep you more updated now. So stay tuned.
