Slap what!?!
Truett had a recent virus and we were so glad to see it go, or so we thought. After almost a week of no symptoms we saw a rash, and at first didn't know that the two went together. Until, we did some digging (research). Thankfully the parents in this generation have Google University to call on. We spent a few hours researching childhood rashes and found what Truett had the whole time was a thang called Fifth's Disease (aka slap cheek disease).

Bye Bye Bad Bug
Truett's recent virus, left him with a fever and us with lots of time indoors. We played games, read books, watched movies, and played with too many toys. Truett was ready to go outside as soon as his 5 day fever broke. To which I happily obliged.
Eating was not his biggest priority and because he is typically such a good eater I knew it was not going to be a huge deal for him to munch on pretzels and peanuts. He didn't, however, like his Ensure, a.k.a. milkshake.

Trying to be a happy patient for mommy.

15 weeks and rest...
Today is bittersweet. Our sweet Paw Paw Pete is not doing well, not well at all. He went into the hospital Thursday evening after a fall. He had a stroke last fall and has been slowly, but surely, getting around. After his fall Thursday he was admitted to the hospital where they wanted to check with his doctors to make sure he could handle the hip surgery. He has been pretty congested but the doctors said, he had fluid all over his body. He has kidney failure from having diabetes for so long and he has had past heart surgery (a balloon). He sounded congested in his throat Friday evening when we talked to him and then later that evening he went into respiratory distress. He was sent to the ICU where things have gotten worse, they put him on a respirator Saturday and said he is "very sick". We don't foresee him making it through the week, but we know it's not our timing. Maw Maw Mary is really having a hard time, if you feel led please pray for all of us.
I'm 15 weeks along today, and feel like this pregnancy has been but a blink of my eye. Last night, after hearing Paw Paw might not make it through the night, I felt the baby more than I have since I started feeling this little one nearly 4 weeks ago. He/she was so active, I wonder if the crying got the baby moving. Well, I don't have an update belly picture, but I am definitely showing. I am weighing the same as I was with Truett at this point, but I'm "showing" much much more.

Poison Ivy/Oak
Truett loves to play outside, especially in wooded areas. So, I was not at the least surprised by this new rash. We will just take it easy for the next few days, I know it's not contagious now, but he's pretty uncomfortable by the rash and all it's itching. We are enjoying some extra baths and television.

Visiting back home, Part 2
Truett got sick the following week after spending 4 straight days outside and getting into every pinestraw pile and picking up every pine cone we could find and throwing it. We then went to church that very morning and spent the whole morning enjoying others germs, that night Truett was sick! Who knows what causes it, but I do know he was exposed to plenty of allergens and germs that long weekend!
We ended up going to the pediatrician later that week, his cough was getting worse and worse. It has been 10 months since we were sick last. His last visit was December of last year! He did have bronchiolitis last October (one of the two viruses that causes bronchiolitis is RSV) so we didn't want to wait too long.
Truett watching "Big Comfy Couch" like a big boy. This has been the only show he will watch all the way through. I think it's because the show comes across like a play, at a slow and understandable (if that is a word) pace.
"Come on, Honey do!" Yes, he did say that! He is talking in sentences and not just 2 or 3 words anymore!
Odie wanted up too! Truett would love to get his hands on him, but that little kitty would swat at him.
"Hold you, mommy!" It's music to my ears

Too good to be true!
It's been 10 months since Truett has been to see the pediatrician and low and behold while we are away, Truett has his first stomach bug! He woke up that morning and seemed to be fine but while eating he laid his head on his hand and just sat there. He has done this before but usually during lunch or when he is tired. I dismissed it. When I got him out of his highchair he laid his head down on my shoulder, again not everyday but not way out in left field either. I said " you want to lay down on mommy and daddy's bed" and he did he laid there not making a sound... now this is out of the norm. I just laid there thinking, "man, he must of woke up in the night or something to be so tired". He looked at me and whined and then, to spare you the details he was sick. I felt so helpless and a little afraid. He seemed so pitiful and was looking to me for an answer. All I could muster up was "It's o.k. baby, mommy's here" over and over. It seemed to work, but then I wished my mom were there to tell me the same. The day was miserable and there would be little spurts of light and then times where I would just hold his little limp body and pray that God would hold me and this blessing he bestowed upon Wayne and myself.
Truett is such a champ and a wonderful patient, his wife will be so glad, one day! :P I took a few pictures after the gory morning and as bad as he felt he managed to smile for the first picture, a true model :)
You wouldn't know he was sick, except for as soon as I took this picture he had the most pitiful look on his face :(
He just laid there all day
Well we did make a bed for him in the middle of our living room!
He had a diaper on and this blanket, it was a sweet mommy moment! He just wanted to cuddle all day!!
Watching none other than "Lunette, Molly, Major Bedhead, Uncle Chester, Granny Garbanzo, and Snickle Fritz"

Weekly Wrap-Up Without Lens
We have been under the weather this week. We have stayed home and made sweet memories while babysitting Maw Maw's kitty cat and taking more baths than normal. I've only manage to workout twice but I don't feel so bad about it. Truett has been so much fun this week. He seems to be sweeter than normal when he doesn't feel the greatest. He snuggles and hold on a little tighter.
Today, Truett has taken a turn for the better. He has no fever, a little runny nose, but nothing significant. Thank goodness too, I REALLY didn't want to cancel Parent's Night Out reservations. Wayne and I are going out to eat and visit with some friends from church, Challie and Jeffrey.
Truett has been soaking everything up, like sounds of animals. He hasn't showed any interest in knowing or repeating these sounds until just recently. He likes to say "ooooo" for mooooo (Cow sounds) and says "kikkky" (sounds like keee keee) and raises his arms out as if he were asking a question! He misses Ody. He had been pointing out all kinds of things in books that I had no clue he could do. He picks the kitty cat out as well as any ball, balloon, color, chair, shoes, bear (teddy bear), scissors, blocks, or book. I guess I was so use to his eyesight being dull or not so good when he was so little I now underestimate what he can see and can't. I know his eyesight is as well as mine, well not quite, but almost! :)

Late March or was it early April?

Monday Madness on a Thursday?

Let me see, last Friday, late afternoon, Truett had a virus and a fever of 104.8...... ouch! He was fine or maybe just a little whiny right before his nap and then BAM when he woke up he was on fire I finally got the fever to come down some but after not being able to get in touch with our doctor for 2 hours we decided to go the ER. We were not sure what the source was but didn't want to end up there in the middle of the night or Saturday or Sunday! Poor thing was just lackadaisical, they gave him a dose of Motrin (since it had been 3 hours since I had given him Tylenol). By the time we went home Truett was squealing and talking and having a good time, it could have been due to being up an hour past bedtime! The sweet ER doctor said he would be fine but to keep giving him motrin for the fever. That was our first visit to the ER... I don't want to go back anytime soon either.
Truett has been wanting to go outside but due to the weather we weren't able to go until today, we were outside for nearly 2 hours after lunch. He is an outside boy. He loves to explore and make up new words. He is still saying pretty much the same things: ball, balloon, baby, book, bath, (see a pattern?), then there is : shoes, outside, and ccccc for candle, clock, or cookie.
While he was unable to go outside we tried to keep him occupied by letting him do some house chores, j/k! We have read A LOT and taken a few more baths than usual. He also enjoys playing hard with daddy!
