Truett Jackson Mullins

Oh! How I love your smile! You are our firstborn son, a bright smile comes over our face when we talk about you. We have lots of nicknames for you: Train, Jacksonator, Pirate Truett, Captain Truett, and brother. You are 3 years and 9 months. Our blond hair, blue-eyed boy. You love pirates, dinosaurs, swords (oh, do you love them), burying treasure, looking at pirate maps and finding "X" marks the spot, you LOVE being silly (especially around your friends), you are your brother's most avid protector and sometimes the biggest aggravation too!

You want to understand everything, and if you do not get it the first time you will keep saying "Huh?". You love to get "Sansitizer" from Jett's changing table, because you are so big. You have been going into a bathroom stall (anywhere we go) and use the bathroom with NO help, because you need your privacy. I think it's so cute that you say, "People can't come in here because I don't want them to see my privacy", You still call Wal-Mart, "Mal-Mart" most of the time, unless I make you say it slowly. You love to drink water, juice, and blue Powerade (and in that same order), your favorite foods would include: yogurt (which you can't eat much of due to your excema), cheese, popcorn, and cheese quesadilla and mexican or flavored rice. You like chicken nuggets and fries, grilled cheese, bacon, pistachios, peanuts and random snack food.

When your daddy teaches business classes you think he is at church, you call Sunday School, your school. You love bugs and anything that I would call "icky". Since our long trip to NC, you ask us every time we leave the house "Is this going to be a long trip?" or "How far is this trip?". When I told you that the Bible says "We should do all things without grumbling or complaining" you said in your best pirate voice "Well then, I'll have to chop of Jesus' head!", I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I wish I could remember all the things you say and I will have to remember those clever remarks you tell me. You love all my lady friends probably as much as their children or me!

I pray that you become a godly, well respected, well mannered, servant to others who loves the Lord, your wife, your children. It is a privilege and an honor to be your mother! I love you Truett Jackson Mullins!

So, I guess I should update, huh?

In the last month:
-We've moved
-Had a baby shower
-Had my sister's baby shower
-Had a birthday party
-Had 3 doctor appointments

We have been busy trying to settle down and get things put away. Truett is doing great and adjusting better than I am. We just moved up the road, so it's not like we are far away, but it is different. Truett did ask a few times to go back to our "home", that was enough to make me sad.

Jett's baby shower was great, lots of baby things and I can't wait to meet this little man who has overtaken my body. He is getting so big and will make his debut in 3 weeks or less!

My sister, who lives out of town, had her baby shower last weekend. I can't wait to have all these babies around again. She will be having her 2nd (a little boy) in January and I believe this will be their last. I guess this will be the last time we do our pregnancies "together".

Our sweet friend, Anabelle, had her 2nd birthday party also last weekend and we had a ball. Eating too much and playing too hard. Happy Birthday, "Antabelle" Rhee!

Oh yea, Doctor's appointments are going well. We will have an ultrasound next week to check this little guy's weight and see if I'm dilating. He is head down and "engaged". We toured the new Women's & Children's Hospital and loved the LDR suites. It's just around the corner.

Truett leaves little toys like this laying around and I'm reminded of HOW MUCH I love boys!!!

Blogging Contest... My 1st Ever!!

Hey guys! I wanted to ask a favor to all 3 of my blog readers, since our new addition will officially put an end to our WHAT (Wayne Heather And Truett) era. I don't think WHATJ will not be the cutest blog name, I wanted to get your opinion and feedback. If I select your blog name I will send you a $25 gift card to Target.

November is still far off, but I'd love to get a new blog look up way before then. Please let me know what you think we should change it to. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Good luck !!

Oh, and any advice on how to make this blog more helpful would be greatly appreciated. Should I put more recipes? less about me, more about issues? less about issues? more about embarrassing daily happenings (I have PLENTY)?

A baby boy, named Noah...

After reading an article from defendingcontending.com I wanted to post this blog. It's about Noah, a 5 month old that was shaken by it's caregiver while mom and dad were away. If you feel led please pray for this little one and his parents. I can only imagine what they might be going through.

My mission field

I happened upon this blog not too long ago and loved this post! Of course I am not a mother of five and not everything in the post applies but this is my heart and how I feel about my "mission work".

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs' tails...

Truett is 2 ! Life is getting really fun!! I would like to take a post to remind myself in years to come and to let you guys know what all Truett has been doing/saying!

Truett loves to entertain!! From Sunday School teachers to aunts and uncles and yes, also mommy and daddy, he loves to make others laugh and when he finds what will make you laugh, he will wear the phrase/action out. He sometimes calls me momma or mom (this makes me feel like he is getting too old) but he mostly calls me mommy and daddy is always daddy or his other nickname Truett calls him, daddy-O. He also calls me mamma-mia!

He is all boy and loves airplanes, helicopters, trains, ambulances, firetrucks, cars, trucks, army men, tanks, dump trucks, and tractors, but really anything boyish he loves! He is crazy about being outside and playing with ANYTHING outside. His imagination has quadrupled in the last 3-4 months. He makes me pretend I'm crying and then hugs me and says" It's okay mommy, here's a paci" or he pretends he is making me a salad.

Probably the thing I want to remember the most is his vocabulary. He talks, and talks, and talks, and talks! I have NO IDEA where he might get that from :) He doesn't just speak in sentences but paragraphs. We have been reviewing our alphabet and numbers. He knows one through ten (he has only said them to Wayne, he has only made it to 6 with me unless I draw it out of him) and his alphabet needs some refining but he knows many letters. He also knows the Spanish words for 1-10. He loves to read and say things pertaining to the book. He pretends the people in the story are mommy, daddy, and Truett.

Truett's most used phrase, for the last week or two has been, " I need Truett to do it by himself". He makes us laugh so often.

He loves:
outside
doggies/kitties
the color orange (especially orange socks)
talking
trucks, airplanes, helicopters, etc., etc.
yogurt
reading books
daddy and mommy
chicken fingers
apple juice
cheese
helping daddy "fix" things
helping mommy wash dishes
pretending he is "working" behind the register
debit cards/ "paying the lady"
pretending in general
date nights with mommy and daddy
french fries (which we NEVER give him ;)
playdates with our friends (Sidney, Chloe, Anabelle, and Maddie)
picnics
peanuts

Things he is working on:
having patience
obedience
not whining
numbers/ letters/ basic phonics

Here's lookin' at you kid....

Truett has been so talkative lately... who does he get that from? :) We enjoy our mornings and mom needs Truett's nap time to get everything done (house chores, cooking, emails, and of course the not so important bath or shaving). Wayne has been super busy with things going on. We have a good bit going on right now. Wayne's grandpa is in the hospital tonight, he had a slight stroke early this morning. We've been there all day. He is doing better, but he's staying the night in ICU for precautionary measures. If the Lord leads you to pray for him please keep his wife (Maw Maw "Mee" as Truett calls Maw Maw Mary) in prayer also.

Another thing going on is our trip to see Wayne's brother and sister-in-law in Durham, NC. It will be Truett's first flight and I'm a little nervous. I'm trying to finalize a "trip list" for everybody and I'm taking tips and ideas if anyone has a few.

We are also looking at some land (48 acres!). We are super excited but things haven't finalized yet.

I'm getting back into the blogging mindset so bear with me.

I know this blog has been predominately about Truett hence the www.expectingtruett.blogspot.com but I think I'm going to start making this blog more of our family's journey through a foreign land, maybe some recipes that we've tried and maybe an occasional rant/rave. Before I do that, let me update you on more of Truett's life. He is weighing in at a HEALTHY 27 lbs., Yowzers! That is why lifting weights is not necessary! I am not sure of the inches but last time we checked, roughly 6 weeks ago, he was 33 inches. He has said three word sentences several times. One was "Mommy be back", another was " Daddy go out", another was " I play Annabelle" (I play with Annabelle), " That's a no-no", and "Daddy go car...work". This is NEVER prompted and he actually won't say a 3 word sentence when I try to get him to! I'm not going on "mommy translations" either, most of the comments were told to me by others who heard what I heard. He is very verbal and very clear with his words (those that he knows already).

I'm not going to write all of his vocabulary, the list is too long. Wayne and I think it would be roughly 60-100 words. He can mostly say anything we say with some difficulty, but the vocabulary would be words he has already made associations with or knows by our repetition. I think that is all for now... I won't stop posting about him all together, but will try posting about more of our general life.

Truett enjoying his bath time, he thinks it is a waterhose!

Static electricity looks good on him!

I need some recipes!

For anyone who knows me, you know I've never been a cook. Before having Truett, Wayne and I would usually cook together, he would cook and I would clean, or we would dine at a restaurant's. Both, Wayne and I worked and shared just about all household chores and responsibilities. Then we had Truett! It is not practical nor is it financially responsible for us to do this. Since I stay at home with Truett, I try to plan as much as possible. So, dinners are no exception. I have been trying different recipes: Giada, from the FoodNetwork.com and one from one of my favorite blogging momma's 4littlemen.blogspot.com. We have enjoyed one from her: Chickpea Curry, it is yummy and soooo easy, and who knew bulgar (a substitute for rice) was so good! If you have any fast, easy, AND healthy (or at least somewhat) we would LOVE to try it. Send it to me!!

Sorry, no pics today!
